Information
Dão Tinto is a full-bodied and complex red wine that comes from the Dão wine region in the north-central part of Portugal. It has a deep garnet color and an intense aroma of red and black fruits, such as blackberries, cherries, and plums, with hints of spice, tobacco, and vanilla. On the palate, this wine is rich and powerful, with a dense and velvety texture, and a good balance between acidity and tannins. The fruit flavors are complemented by a subtle oakiness and a long, persistent finish that leaves a pleasant aftertaste of fruit and spice. It pairs beautifully with hearty meat dishes, stews, and mature cheeses.
Fun facts
Did you know that Dão Tinto was one of the first wines in Portugal to receive its own Denominação de Origem Controlada (DOC) status in 1990? This recognition was given to the wine due to its unique terroir and the use of traditional grape varieties.
